Janus Stark

Of all the many influences that have created Jasper Rimes, the rubber bodied hero Janus Stark is one at the top of the list. A star of the British comics Valiant/Smash, his escapades kept me riveted every week. The creation of Tom Tully and Franciso Solano Lopes (whose brilliant black and white illustrations still awe me) the character was a Victorian escapologist with a chequered past who becomes a Holmes-like detective.
